Embracing the Industry That Gives, Takes, and Tests
As we near the end of 2024, I think we all wish this year had been a little busier. During the height of the early 2020’s housing boom, we knew it would not last, and do you remember us all hoping for a ‘soft landing’?
Is this a soft landing? Or are we about to go into a full-on recession? Or will 2025 be the best housing year ever? I am certain that you could easily find articles and studies to show that each of the three are true.
But the truth is, we just do not know. We never do.
This industry that has been so great to provide careers, finances, and relationships to so many for so long is fickle.
It’s a double-edged sword.
It giveth, and it taketh away.
It is not for the faint of heart.
Sometimes I quote General Patton as he talked about war and its horrors; ‘God help me, I do love it so.’
Perhaps I should not compare the building materials industry to war, the stakes are obviously quite a bit lower.
But it is serious business, and we certainly don’t do it for practice. We do it because we love it. So, if it seems that we’re entering recession, hang in there. If it’s more prosperity, let’s celebrate together.
Either way, I am glad you are in it with me.
