Loving Your Work

A couple of weekends ago, on a long weekend at the beach, I found myself sitting on the beach reading a book about work.
But look, I like my work. I love my work! My job duties fit my skillset very well. I love the people that I work with, and I want the best for them. So why shouldn’t I read about what I like?
I suppose that if reading business books added stress to my life it would be different.
If you’re like me, you are energized by the thought of a new idea or approach that will make things better for people.
The bad part about reading something like that while on the beach is that you don’t have a great way to make notes on the things you want to look into when you get back to work (I suppose I should have brought a pen).
I understand that not everyone loves their work. I wish they did. For all of my wisdom and expertise, I am not all that great at making sure they do. I have a lot of growing to do. Perhaps there is a book on that for when I go to the beach again.
What about you? Do you love your work? And would you read about it at the beach?
