Tough winter?
I’ll be honest, it was for us.
I mean, we did okay.
The number at the bottom of the Income Statement is black.
It's small, but black.
Years ago, that’s how the winter months always were.
In the last 10 or 15 years there is less of a slowdown.
You guys have apparently figured out how to build year-round.
The other problem right now—as you know—is all the uncertainty.
I had no idea how big of a word that would be in our lives someday. But ‘uncertainty’ is the flavor of the day.
It seems like we just cannot get to where we can see more than 2 or 3 months out.
So, what are we to do when things are so uncertain?
Of course, you plan as best as you can, take your best guess, ask around, etc.
But it is times like this that you really need to be certain who you are as a company.
Core Values. Core Mission.
When you have a clear mission, you do not deviate from it when times are prosperous, and certainly not when times are slow.
At Wilson Lumber, our Mission is to build a successful company that upholds Christlike principles and inspires people to grow. And this holds true no matter how busy we are.
I wish I could say that we were batting 100% on this mission, but we, like any other humans, fall short sometimes.
The point is that we have something to aim at, something to center us when times are slow. And now that it’s spring and things seem to be getting busier, we still have something to aim at and something to center us.
And of course we cannot do it without you. Our success depends completely on your success.
So, please let us know how we can help you Build Faster. And just maybe how we can avoid tough winters in the future.
