Budgeting to help you Build Faster

It’s budgeting time. Over the years I’ve learned that achieving a proper budget is somewhat study, somewhat science, somewhat a complete stab in the dark. But I’ve also learned that it is incredibly important.

If we don’t spend real time and thought coming up with a budget, we will not be prepared to serve you, our customer, the way you deserve. Under budget, and we don’t prepare with the resources you need to build faster.

Over budget, and we’re losing money which isn’t sustainable. This speaks to our 3^rd Core Value, Get the Facts.

It’s all about communication.

When we meet with customers and ask about their pipeline and their plans for the coming year, it’s not because we’re making small talk, we’re determining how to allocate resources.

Your job is even harder. If you’re a builder, large or small, you have the huge task of figuring out the local and broader housing market, what demand there is, what kind of houses to build, when to build them.

Some of you have to decide to presale or not, then comes the selection process… It’s a lot.

But we so appreciate the work that you do, and we appreciate the fact that it is hard, and we certainly hope it’s rewarding. Both financially and personally.
